Inspired by the the spread of infections of disease or ideas through social networks, an award-winning team of artists, scientists, musicians and dancers combine cutting-edge technology and fluid movement to create a sonic and visual world where even the smallest interactions leave behind a trace.
Inspired by the similarities between the spread of ‘infectious’ ideas through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and the transmission of real-world diseases like swine flu through human populations, this award-winning team of artists, scientists, musicians and dancers combine cutting-edge technology and fluid movement to create a sonic and visual world where even the smallest interactions leave behind a trace.
Led by artist and stage designer Becs Andrews (Phase Revival: An Optical Harmonica) in collaboration with evolutionary biologist Professor Mike Brockhurst, choreographer Simon Birch, composer Jon Hughes and the team behind Hidden Fields (Tom Mitchell, Phill Tew) with bespoke engineering from x-io technologies, TRANSMISSION promises to be a truly eye-opening experience.
