You can play ‘in time’. You can definitely play ‘out of time’. But is there any space in-between? The Radio Edit presents an experimental jazz trio asking that exact question. A continuous stream of improvised worlds of music, drawing on everything and everyone from Miles Davis to Stephen Sondheim.

What started as a project for a Master’s thesis has evolved into a real-time musical exploration of ideas of originality, ownership, inspiration and time. Tick tock sings the metronome, but is such a linear understanding of musical time accurate or even beneficial for the performing musician? As critics continue attempting to define the idiosyncrasies of ‘feel’ and genre, The Radio Edit blows holes in these assumptions and performs what the trio believe everything was all along: just music.
