York Festival of Ideas 2020 postponed

In line with Public Health England’s current advice on social distancing, and with enormous and profound regret, we have reluctantly decided that we must postpone this year’s York Festival of Ideas. This decision has been made to help protect the health of our audiences, speakers and staff.

The Festival, which was due to be held from 2-14 June 2020, will now take place from 8-20 June 2021. This year’s festival was going to be our 10th anniversary. In defiance of adversity, and in total hope for a shared and safe future, we hope you will join us then as we celebrate ten years of delivering inspirational events in 2021. We are determined that York Festival of Ideas will return to feature a huge range of mostly free events for all ages and interests under the banner of Infinite Horizons.

We hope all of you stay safe and healthy in the coming weeks. Please keep in touch with us via social media: Twitter; Facebook and Instagram. Don’t forget you can also listen to The Story of Things podcast. We will also, in the fullness of time, look at how we can create little ‘flashes’ of Festival of Ideas events, perhaps in the Autumn, dependent of course on public health advice.

Our speakers, festival partners and audiences are the life blood of York Festival of Ideas – thank you all for your continued collective and individual support. This has been a heart-breaking, but utterly necessary, decision. We look forward to welcoming you to the York Festival of Ideas in June 2021.
