As pirates, publishers, painters, martyrs, teachers, activists, actors and politicians, women have shaped the city of York and made their mark on the world.

Join York Explore Archivist Laura Yeoman as she guides you through some of the highlights of the York Archives materials that reveal the fascinating lives of women in York’s history. York St John University researchers Elodie Duché, Anne-Marie Evans and Kaley Kramer will then introduce some of the women that inspire their research.

The library café will be open to share stories, talk about women’s history in York, and contribute to putting women back on the map. Come along and discover more about women’s important and lasting contributions to the past, present, and future of York.
