Haydn’s ‘Creation’ in Rehearsal York Musical Society
Event details
York Musical Society (YMS) will perform Haydn’s oratorio The Creation in York Minster on Saturday 22 June. On Monday 3 June, the choir's regular Monday evening rehearsal is open to visitors. You are invited to hear the choir rehearse with musical director David Pipe. See the effort that goes into preparing for a large choir performance and enjoy extracts of this powerful work.
This is a wonderful chance to hear excerpts of The Creation by Joseph Haydn, accompanied by piano.
The evening will begin with a short introductory talk about this work; then the rehearsal will last about an hour.
YMS open rehearsals have proved popular in the past: guests’ feedback in the 2019 York Festival of Ideas included, ‘very enjoyable and enlightening’, ‘really liked the fly-on-the-wall view of rehearsal planning’, ‘thank you for allowing us to experience some of the secrets of your high-quality performances’.
The nearest car parking for this event is Marygate Car Park.
