Event details

Join the discussion as expert speakers look at the past, present and future of festivals and public events on a Viking theme at the 2025 Richard Hall Symposium.

Re-enactments, reconstructed Viking ships and Viking festivals across the British Isles and Europe will all come under the spotlight, together with the JORVIK Viking Festival - which can be traced back to events staged for the first time in York in 1985.

Speakers will join the event both in person and remotely. Pre-booking is essential.

This event is presented by York Archaeology, a self-funded educational Charity and a leading professional archaeological organisation operating throughout the UK. It is organised in conjunction with the School of Humanities, York St John University.
