Event details

Printing in York has a long and distinctive history. Join Helen Smith, Director of Thin Ice Press: the York Centre for Print, to learn about Europe's earliest wallpaper, how a book can be a magpie, entrepreneurial widows, printing on ice, type made of Viking wood and much more.

As well as learning about York's first 500 years of printing and bookselling, and finding out about the City's lively current printing and printmaking scene, discover how Helen and her colleagues are planning to make old-fashioned print endure for another half millennium.

Attendees will take away a unique printed souvenir of the occasion.
