How do we overcome the technical and financial challenges on the path to net zero? Join David Trousdale, Principal Advisor for Climate Change and Net Zero at Newcastle City Council and hear how he and his team are successfully driving change in the city.

As we are moving towards the Climate Change Committee’s seventh Carbon Budget, which will require a change in people’s behaviours to reduce carbon emissions, we are entering into a period critical of net zero. Policy makers and leads in this area will need to focus on demonstrating the benefits of net zero beyond its climate impacts. This means focusing on the benefits to people’s energy bills and their health. Engagement is key, as is ensuring people are able to make green choices in their lives and are supported on their journey to reducing their own emissions.

Join us and discover why Newcastle City Council’s work towards net zero has been recognised by a Green Cities Initiative award for youth engagement by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Find out more about how, as a key city in the North East, they are delivering net zero and how they are overcoming barriers to delivery.
