Event details

York has always flooded and probably always will. Join Simon Rogerson of York’s Hidden History for a guided walk exploring how the city has had to adapt in recent years to try and mitigate the worst of these events.

Find out how and why the city floods, explore different kinds of flood defence schemes in operation and discuss what the future may bring.

Suitable for ages 11+.

This guided walk starts in North Street Gardens and finishes at Rowntree Park.

This walk is one of a number of York’s Hidden History tours on offer during the Festival. You may also enjoy 'The Filthy, Beastly Tour of York' on Sunday 1 June and 'York’s Hidden History of Flooding' on Friday 6 June.
