Verdi’s Requiem York Musical Society
Event details
When Giuseppe Verdi sets the drama of the Requiem Mass, what do you get? Not smooth, angelic counterpoint but rip-roaring choruses, thrilling orchestral accompaniment with brass and timpani, and soaring melodies. Yet there are moments of stillness, too. Come and hear this uplifting work performed by a large choir, professional soloists and orchestra in York’s awe-inspiring Minster. You’ll enjoy what some say is Verdi’s greatest opera!
The choir will be joined by York Musical Society Orchestra and soloists in the beautiful setting of York Minster.
Conductor: David Pipe
Soprano: Elinor Rolfe Johnson
Mezzo-Soprano: Alison Kettlewell
Tenor: Peter Davoren
Bass: Felix Kemp
Please note: Tickets are also available to purchase at the door on the evening of the performance.
