Thursday 16 June 2011, 6.00PM
The Grand Opening of the York Festival of Ideas takes place on Thursday 16 June at 6pm at the Ron Cooke Hub, University of York. The opening event will include a short talk by the renowned Irish photographer, John Minihan, about his amazing exhibition of Beckett photos which will be located in the Ron Cooke Hub from 16 to 26 June (please note this talk will start at 6pm).
The talk will be followed by a reception at which we will be serving Pimms, canapés, and strawberries, not to mention a magnificent Festival of Ideas cake, kindly donated by Betty's. Entertainment will be provided by a jazz band from the University. Please come and celebrate with us and enjoy the fabulous multi-media displays which are part of the Samuel Beckett International Conference and Festival. We also want you to experience the unique atmosphere of the Hub atrium in which we have created a beautiful 'island of green', a carpet of real grass, generously installed for the exhibition courtesy of Lindum, a local turf company.
