The Festival of Ideas takes place in a wide variety of venues throughout York city centre and on the University of York campus.
All venues are wheelchair accessible unless otherwise stated.
The 44 and 66 buses run from the city centre to campus approximately every 10 minutes during the day. The journey takes around 20 minutes.
We recommend drivers approach the University from the junction of the A64 and A1079 on the east of the city, from where the University is signposted. Please note that for access to venues on Heslington East, you will need to access the campus via Field Lane - there is no access off the Grimston Bar Park and Ride. See the maps below for an overview of our location.
Parking is limited and visitor parking is on a pay and display basis (see the interactive campus map for locations). The machines only accept coins. Parking is charged at a rate of £1 per hour or £6 per day, and is free at weekends and between 6pm and 8am.
There are disabled parking spaces in all University car parks.
Access to parking for Heslington East, including the Ron Cooke Hub, is via Field Lane. There is no access from Grimston Bar Park and Ride. Parking for longer than 45 minutes is on a pay-on-foot basis at the end of your stay.
For satnav users, the main University postcode is YO10 5DD. For Heslington East we recommend using YO19 5LA, which will take you to Grimston Bar Park and Ride; vehicle access to Heslington East is clearly signed from there.
