Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer, their families and friends. Their centres are warm and welcoming places, offering support developed to complement medical treatment and nursing care. Join Lesley Howells of Maggie’s for an overview of Maggie’s services and philosophies. Rebeca Ramos from Heatherwick Studio will discuss the design of a new Maggie’s Centre in Leeds.

About the speakers

Lesley Howells is Research Lead for the Maggie’s network of centres across the UK and the Centre Head and Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Maggie’s Dundee. Her responsibilities include developing the evidence based cancer support programme for Maggie’s, development and delivery of staff training, psychology supervision and professional leadership, and the management of the Maggie’s Research Portfolio. She is an NHS Accredited Trainer in Advanced Communication, Mindfulness Teacher and has specialist expertise in the teaching and supervision of NHS Specialist Palliative Care professionals. Prior to moving to the charitable sector she managed an NHS Clinical Health Psychology Service.

Rebeca Ramos is a Designer for Heatherwick Studio and the Project Lead for the new Maggie’s centre in Leeds.
