Event details

Learn more about York's fascinating heritage on a guided walk with Neil Redfern, Executive Director of the Council for British Archaeology.

After growing up north of York, Neil has spent the last 22 years living and working in the city and is actively involved in the management of the city's archaeology and heritage. The archaeological ramble will focus on some of the sites and stories that have interested him the most.

The walk will be delivered twice - the morning walk will start at 11am and the afternoon walk will start at 2pm, each lasting approximately 2 hours. The walks will start and finish at the Council for British Archaeology's office.

This event is free to attend but places are limited, so early booking is advised. The event will take place in all weathers, so please come prepared. There will be some sections where the ground may be uneven so please wear appropriate footwear. If you have any mobility issues, please let us know in advance of the walk so we can ensure the walk is suitably placed. The walk will take place within the City Walls, which are mostly pedestrianised but expect the need to use designated road crossings and to encounter uneven surfaces and kerbs.

This year the CBA is celebrating its 80th anniversary and will be delivering events and activities throughout the year.
