Event details

Join Explore archivist Laura Yeoman as she showcases some of the archives relating to York's Normandy Veterans.

As part of a project with the York Normandy Veterans Association in 2014, Explore has collected a number of personal archives and oral history accounts from veterans. The aim is to ensure the experiences of those who fought in the Second World War are safeguarded for future generations.

As the play based on their archives, Bomb Happy by Helena Fox, gears up for its York run, this is your opportunity to see and hear first hand some of the documents that inspired the playwright. There may even be a chance to talk to a veteran or two at this drop-in event.

Laura will present a talk related to this exhibition,Uncovering Stories: York's Normandy Veterans, at York Explore Library on Thursday 6 June 2019.
