The Festival has a variety of events specifically open to school groups only, as well as a range of talks and activities which will be of interest to children of school age.
The UK's most popular male children's author, Anthony Horowitz, creator of the Alex Ryder novels will be talk about writing for the screen; at our opening event on the Big Bang, school groups will have an opportunity to book a session in the Astrodome, to experience the night sky indoors! Other sessions include talks by popular children's authors Nick Arnold (Weird Science), Nick Barnard (How to Fly a Plane!), and Steve Bloom (My Big Cats Journal) in York Explore Centre. A sixth-form debate will discuss the controversial and viral Kony video, andthere will be an opportunity to find out more about diseases and disorders at an interactive marquee in the centre of town.
