The 2012 York Festival of Ideas, Film Nation: Shorts and BAFTA present a free event with screenwriter and novelist Anthony Horowitz, followed by an audience Q&A.

Anthony is one of the most prolific and successful writers in the UK. In addition to being the UK’s most popular male children’s author, creating the Alex Rider series which has sold 12 million copies worldwide, Anthony has also written for some of the most successful UK television series including Midsomer Murders, Poirot and Robin of Sherwood.  Anthony also created and wrote the hugely successful BAFTA-winning series Foyle’s War which has been sold in 27 countries. In 2003 Anthony wrote the original horror film The Gathering and adapted his own novel Stormbreaker (the first book in his Alex Rider series) which was released worldwide in 2006. Anthony is currently writing the follow up to Steven Spielberg’s 2011 animation hit Tin Tin and is working on Arsene Lupin with Lin Pictures for Warner Brothers. At this special event, join Anthony as he talks us through the screenwriting process, how to craft narrative for the screen and creating engaging characters.
