The virtues of decisions made in a ‘blink of an eye’ have been touted widely but the popular discussion has run ahead of the basic science. In this talk, psychologist Karla Evans will explain the nature, mechanism and utility of this type of rapid processing and highlight the important practical applications to real-life problems it affords.
