Come and try out some of the pioneering dexterity and psychometric tests that the Rowntree Society has recreated for would-be employees at Rowntrees, based on original materials.  You are likely to discover that it is far harder nowadays to do certain manual tasks in a fixed amount of time than in was 50 years ago.
