A discussion on regeneration projects with particular reference to the recent King's Cross regeneration.

Hiro Aso is a Director of John McAslan + Partners, an award winning architectural office in London. He is in charge of the practice's transportation projects and most recently oversaw the comprehensive modernisation of London King's Cross for Network Rail, as Lead Architect. He is also currently working on Crossrail Bond Street, also as Lead Architect for Crossrail Limited.

Hiro is a Chartered Architect. He has worked in architectural studios in Tokyo, Los Angeles as well as London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, as well as of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and is currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the College of Engineering at the University of Birmingham. He is married with two children and lives in Hertfordshire.

Peter Millican is a property developer and creator of King's Place. After building up and selling off a chain of retail opticians he developed his skills as a property entrepreneur by developing a string of high quality office developments in Newcastle and London.  In each development there has been an emphasis on design quality, environmental  sustainability, urban regeneration and a desire to incorporate  art into the fabric of the building.

His first major development, Central Square Newcastle, won the BCO Refurbished Office of the Year in 2001. His latest development, the high profile King's Place in London,  won BCO office of the Year in 2009.  The King's Place development is an office and art venue which uniquely includes a world class concert hall and galleries.  The art facilities were  created without public funding and have gone on to become an important venue for classical music and the spoken word in London.
