Imagine you're making a coin for a medieval king in Northumbria. What would you put on it and how would you design one that is smaller than a 5p? Archaeologist Lucy Moore provides some inspiration.

What you will need:

  • Paper
  • 5p coin (optional)
  • A small plate
  • A pencil
  • A ruler
  • A small piece of Blu Tak
  • Tin foil
  • Scissors

Health and Safety:

  • Young children should be supervised when using scissors
  • Small items (such as the 5p coin) may be a choking risk for young children
  • Tin foil may have sharp edges when torn
