Event details

Journey through space to discover how layout can transform meaning at our out-of-this-world hands-on children’s workshop.

In a small group, discover how layout, scale and placement can change the meaning and feeling of text. We’ll begin by sharing ten short quotes inspired by space: distance, movement, scale… and the stars! Next, choose one line and experiment with how it might look on the page, visualising meaning through composition and design.

By the end of the session, you’ll have set a line of type, printed a fun souvenir and learned the basics of letterpress printing.

All equipment and materials are provided, with step-by-step guidance and support throughout.

Please note: This workshop is suitable for children aged 8+. Children must be signed in by a responsible adult. Grown-ups are welcome to leave during the session and return at pick-up time. We ask that children bring a drink and snack for a short break.
