Discover the art of bookbinding at an inspiring hands-on workshop dedicated to mindful making.

Make space for creativity as you explore traditional skills and techniques with archive conservator Catherine Firth and book and paper conservator Emma Lloyd-Jones.

This practical session uses basic bookbinding techniques to create two simple bindings to hold notes, messages and keepsakes. No experience is necessary, but practical hand skills are required. All materials and tools are provided.

Suitable for ages 16+.

About the speakers

Catherine Firth has been working in archive conservation in York for over 15 years. She is particularly interested in both historic binding structures and the conservation of parchment.

Emma Lloyd-Jones is a freelance book and paper conservator with 35 years’ experience working for libraries and archives across the UK.
