Heritage Beneath Your Feet: Uncovering historic architecture with virtual technology Gamal Abdelmonem
Event details
Discover virtual technology's ability to record and reconstruct historic buildings into a virtual experience, uncovering layers of history that otherwise won’t be seen. This includes a series of virtual tours of ancient Egyptian archaeological sites and medieval British castles.
Join us for a talk and demonstration to see the hidden chambers and vanished temples of the Hawara Pyramid Site in Egypt (1500BC), where the infamous mummy portraits were found, and to walk through the virtual galleries of Nottingham Castle, a medieval castle and its underground caves.
‘Heritage Beneath Your Feet: Uncovering historic architecture with virtual technology’ is one of a number of events taking place as part of a special edition of YorkTalks. Celebrating University of York’s research at its best, we invite you to explore a dynamic landscape of curated talks, live performances and hands-on activities staged in the historic Heslington Hall and its grounds on the theme Heritage Reframed.
