Event details

Do popular films nail psychology, or is it just movie magic? Join expert researchers for a deep dive into some well-known films as they unpack the real science of emotion, memory and behaviour. Through short clips and analysis, they’ll bridge entertainment and scientific evidence, highlighting where cinema gets it right and where it strays from reality.

Come along and explore the mind through the lens of the big screen.

About the speakers

All the speakers are researchers from the Psychology Department at the University of York, UK.

Emel Küçük’s research focuses on understanding the ‘Social Brain’ and how humans perceive emotions and social interactions.

Dr Nelly Matorina’s research investigates the role of sleep and dreaming in memory processing.
