Discover the wilder side of the University of York’s stunning Campus East with a multi-sensory workshop designed to reconnect you with the outdoors.
Blending play, science and mindfulness, our event features interactive nature games, a guided biodiversity walk and hands-on creative activities. As you explore, gain a unique insight into a new plan being developed for managing campus green spaces and the built environment.
This event is part of the new ecological management plan, which has been developed for the University of York. The Vision of the plan is a nature-positive campus that supports all the members of the university community, whatever their role, background or species, to achieve their full potential.
This event is suitable for ages 8+.
Please meet at the gazebo opposite the entrance to the School of Arts and Creative Technologies on Campus East at 10.30am. Booking is recommended, but drop-in places may be available on the day.
About the speaker
As a geologist, teacher and researcher, Dr Smriti Safaya, has grasped that the best place to learn is 'where the action is', and has two decades of experience in education and outreach. Her enthusiasm for creating nature-connecting experiences has led to her work in citizen science at the Stockholm Environment Institute at the University of York, and as a co-founding organiser for the annual York City Nature Challenge.
