Chrysopigi Vardikou of the University of York Europe Campus reveals how and when consumers are pushing back against digital persuasion techniques. Using real-world data, she’ll explore how we reclaim our decision-making autonomy in social media and when we are more willing to ‘surrender’.

About the speaker
Dr Chrysopigi Vardikou is an experienced academic and marketing strategist specialising in the intersection of digital marketing, cognitive psychology and online consumer behaviour. She is a Lecturer at the University of York Europe Campus, where she teaches Marketing modules at the postgraduate level. Additionally, she has served as a Guest Lecturer at the Department of Digital Media and Communication at the Ionian University, Kefalonia, Greece. Chrysopigi holds a PhD from the Ionian University and a Master of Science (MSc) in Cognitive Psychology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She also holds an MBA with a specialisation in Marketing from the University of Macedonia, Greece. Chrysopigi possesses 15 years of industry experience. In 2021, she established the consultancy firm Alt & Cue, specialising in marketing strategy and corporate training. Her previous tenure includes strategic roles as an in-house Marketing Manager in the automotive sector and in an e-commerce agency, and she has worked with global automotive brands as well as small and medium sized businesses in Greece, Europe and the US.
