The Battle of Fulford in September 1066 set the stage for Harold’s defeat at Hastings which led to the end of Anglo-Saxon rule. The battle has been marked by the creation of the Fulford Tapestry, using the same style, materials and stitching techniques as the famous work at Bayeux. Measuring 18 feet long, it took a team of volunteers seven years to complete.
