The city of York has a rich history of organ-building and organ-playing. Join Philip Paul of  York Central Methodist and St Martin’s Church for a variety of music from around the world performed on a unique J W Walker organ.

The concert, which includes pieces by Buxtehude, Duruflé and Gade, is presented in partnership with the York & District Organists' Association as part of their summer season of events featuring the organs in York churches.

About the performer

Philip Paul developed a passion for organ music at a young age. The first organ he played was at Christ Church and Upton Chapel in London, where his father was the Minister. He was appointed organist and Director of Music of York Central Methodist Church in 2003 and has been an organist with the parish of St Helen with St Martin, York since 2006.  He has given recitals in Tromsø and at Halifax Minster, Holy Trinity Hull, St Wulfram's Grantham, St Mary's RC Church Newport (Gwent) and St Mary Abchurch in the City of London.
