Join the creative team of INNovating: Audio Drama and their project partner Explore York to hear about the making of their immersive audio experience, inspired by the history of York’s coaching inns.

Go behind the scenes with the director, writer and community actors, and discover more about the history of York’s coaching inns and the stories that inspired the audio trail.

This will be a short talk with audio clips, followed by a Q&A.

About the speaker

Kate Valentine is a director and educator who is passionate about enabling people to tell stories through theatre and multi-media. She has a wide experience of the arts in many forms: as a theatre director (including National Theatre, Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough), BBC Radio Producer, teacher, new media facilitator and producer. Kate specialises in applied theatre, community drama and new writing, encouraging writers and performers through the process of producing their best work. Founder and director of Digital Drama, Kate works with theatres, arts organisations, museums and community groups to connect people through creative projects. She has won numerous awards including Best Multi-Media Producer at the Audio Production Awards and Gold at the New York Festivals for directing Peace in Our Time. Kate is currently undertaking a PhD in Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media by Creative Practice at the University of York, entitled ‘Dual Carriageway: Digital storytelling linking communities along the Great North Road’.
