As part of their performance of Sita: The multifaceted heroine of Ramayana at the Guildhall on 5 June, Duncan Chapman and Supriya Nagarajan from Dewsbury-based Manasamitra have created two sound walks.
The first explores early morning ragas sung by Supriya and recorded in the early hours of the morning by the Ouse, accompanied by birdsong and the sounds of the city awakening.
The second recording takes you on a walk from the Minster to the station and back in the evening. The sounds of York at dusk are combined with evening ragas sung by Supriya.
Listen to this oasis of calming birdsong, Carnatic singing and drones.
