Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) has an international reputation for excellence married with local relevance, having become a significant place in people's lives since its establishment in 1977. Founding/Executive Director Peter Murray will describe an overview of YSP activity including the reunification and restoration of the historic Bretton Estate in parallel with the creation and development of 21st century art, and how the combination of the two creates a contribution to the wellbeing of culture, communities and individuals.
YSP Head of Learning Janette Robinson will share case studies of partnerships including those with the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust working with older people with mental health problems as well as Breathing Space for vulnerable adolescents.
YSP Senior Curator Helen Pheby PhD will conclude with a contextualising consideration of the evidence for the positive power of art, leading into a panel discussion chaired by Peter Murray.
