The York Union presents Cobra Beer founder and outspoken crossbencher Lord Bilimoria. Join us to hear his reflections on his runaway entrepreneurial success and how welcoming Britain was when he left India in the 1980s. He will also provide some unique insights into business and politics. Critical of both the Tories and Labour at the last general election, Lord Bilimoria takes no prisoners.
Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea CBE is the founder of Cobra Beer, Chairman of the Cobra Beer Partnership Limited and of Molson Coors Cobra India, both joint ventures with the global brewing company, Molson Coors. He is also the founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council.
In 2004 he was appointed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to business and entrepreneurship. In 2006 he became an Independent Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords and was made Baron Bilimoria of Chelsea in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, making him the first ever Zoroastrian Parsi to sit in the House of Lords. He was appointed the Chancellor of Birmingham University in 2014.
