How do you recognise faces? Which part of the brain is responsible for decision-making? Have a go at making a brain hat, build a brain cell and learn more about our amazing minds!

Our activities, presented by psychologists from the University of York, are designed for children aged 8-13 (but suitable for all ages) working with teachers and parents.

What you will need for a brain hat:

  • Copies of the patterns from the link below
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • White glue or glue stick (if you want to avoid too much tape on the hat)

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Beads

Health and Safety:

  • Young children should be supervised when using scissors and glue
  • Small parts such as beads could be a choking hazard
  • Our building a brain cell activity is not suitable for children under 3 years old
