Stitched-up-theatre presents an audioplay of a new contemporary opera for Yorkshire inspired by the true story of Mary Frances Heaton.

The Unravelling Fantasia of Miss H is a poetic portrayal of a Victorian woman imprisoned by a society intent on control. Chronicling Mary’s life-long struggle to hold on to her identity, it is based on her embroidered words of defiant protest and the surviving medical records from her confinement in Wakefield Asylum.

Composed, performed and produced by Red Gray and Sarah Nicolls, this audioplay is an adaptation of the stage play directed by Zoe Bouras for Stitched-up-theatre.

Stitched-up-theatre

Stitched-up-theatre was conceived in 2018 by Red Gray. Her passion is to create bold performance which alights the senses, stirs the soul and moves the heart aspiring always to leave the audience in a state of altered consciousness! Stitched-up-theatre is here to tell stories which need to be told, by those who need to tell them to those who need to hear them through the converging expressions of physical theatre, opera and contemporary classical music.
