1980 witnessed the fulfilment of a goal that many had considered impossible: the global eradication of smallpox. Some see this as the greatest achievement of global public health in the twentieth century. This exhibition focuses on the international effort to eradicate as pictured in photographic vignettes by some of the most renowned photojournalists of the post-war era. A multimedia presentation gives attendees the opportunity to hear accounts from the eradication effort given by luminaries of the programme.
