Find out how you could earn an Arts Award Discover by completing Bags of Creativity activities.

During York Festival of Ideas, York Army Museum is encouraging children and young people in York to give Arts Award Discover a try for free by completing Bags of Creativity activities and the Arts Award Discover worksheet.

Return the sheet to the Museum by the end of June and the York Army Museum will apply for your Arts Award Discover and post it back to you for free. Please note that this only applies to York residents or those attending York schools.

Arts Award Discover

Arts Award Discover is a national introductory qualification, encouraging children and young people to explore arts and culture.  Arts Award Discover is suitable for children aged 5 and over. Arts Award offers qualifications to children and young people that develop their creativity, leadership and communication skills. Arts Award assesses a young person's development rather than achievement of a specific art form or skill level, and encourages independent learning, building confidence as well as transferable skills.

Arts Award Summer 2021

York Army Museum delivers Arts Award activities across the city during the summer holidays in partnership with Explore York Libraries and Archives, and York Museums Trust – details of what will be going on this summer will be advertised on these organisations’ websites from end of June.

York Army Museum

York Army Museum will reopen to the public from Monday 17 May.  The museum will host Tribute Ink, an exhibition by the Royal British Legion, telling the stories behind tattoos belonging to members of the armed forces. Activities for children and young people over the summer will include covid-safe take away craft activities and trails and a Design a Temporary Tattoo competition, with the winner being announced in September.

York Army Museum also delivers free Arts Award activities during term-time for disadvantaged children made possible by a grant from BBC Children in Need.

Why not have a go at our design a temporary tattoo and fantastic face painting activities?
